David Henry “Hank” Hampton II was born on February 19, 1950 in Burnet, Texas and went to his heavenly home on Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at the age of 62.

Hank graduated from Lanier High School in Austin, Texas and served his country in the Texas National Guard and the 82nd Airborne Division unit. Hank was an avid sportsman loving Texas Longhorn football, baseball, golf, deer hunting and fishing with his son, sons-in-laws and friends.

In 1969, Hank married the love of his life, Nancy Rohde Hampton, and from this marriage came three wonderful children, Lisa, Lesli and Scott. His true pride and joy came years later with his four grandchildren, Shelby, Trey, Easton and Kylie. Hank was Lisa and Lesli's softball coach from the time they could pick up a softball through high school. These were exciting and fun times for the whole family. They traveled through-out the State for softball games and brought home numerous championships. Hank was very competitive and at times would argue with the umpires, resulting in getting him ejected from several games. When Scott was old enough to start playing baseball, he picked up right where he left off and began coaching Scott's baseball teams. Baseball/Softball season was his favorite time of year. As Shelby, Trey and Easton got older and began playing sports, he became their number one fan sitting front row to ensure that they were given the correct directions from their coaches. It was in his blood. Although Miss Kylie is too young to continue the softball tradition, she shines as a dancer and gymnast and he was extremely proud of her. She always brought a smile to his face!

Hank retired from the Texas Department of Transportation in 2000. After retirement he worked in the public sector as an engineer consultant for RTG. He worked a short period of time as an inspector for the City of Round Rock.

Hank is preceded in death by his mother and step-father, Frankie and Bob Burt; father and step-mother David and Betty Hampton. He is survived by his wife Nancy Hampton; daughters Lisa Dove and husband Scott of Hutto; Lesli Dove and husband Tracy of Austin; Scott Hampton and wife Crystal of Hutto; grandchildren Shelby Dove of Austin; Trey and Easton Dove of Hutto and Kylie Hampton of Hutto; step-brother Brian Bailey of College Station; sister-in-law Donna Hodde; nephew Justin Reichenau and wife Lauren, sons Rylan and Landry of Houston; niece Jill Hodde of Hutto; and nephews Bryson and Braxton Bailey of College Station.

Honorary pallbearers will be Harvey Hoskins, Tim House, Hal Reichenau, Mike Stubblefield, Ned Taylor, and Temple Thomas.
