The beautiful soul and spirit of a grand lady has passed into the arms of our Lord and Savior.
Helen June Terry Dennis West was born to Etta and J.G. Terry on January 25, 1923 in Moran, Texas. She was predeceased by her parents; her sister, Frances Haynes; husband, Robert L. Dennis; and husband, Dick West. She is survived by her daughters, Terry Lee Potter and husband John W. Potter, Sr.; Kerry Gay Dennis and husband David Smith; granddaughter, Christine Knepler and Michael Lessard; grandsons, John Potter, Jr. and J.J. Alston.
Mom led an interesting, fun-filled, unique, hard-working life. She earned a double Masterís Degree from Baylor University. Her career led her from secretary to special investigator of Food Stamp fraud to newspaper reporter to high school Journalism and English teacher, and then to retired gardener. Now her new adventure with God has begun.
Her family and friends will miss Momma, Grandma, Helen. A special thanks to all the doctors who kept her going, to the very special staff at New Hope Manor, and to Hospice Austin. A job well done, dear Mom.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m., Monday, March 5, 2012 at Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church, Lago Vista, Texas. Interment will immediately follow in Bagdad Cemetery, Leander, Texas.
